families

This work was made in collaboration with children ages of 4 to 7. Drawings they made of themselves and their families, were “inflated” transforming them into jewellery objects.

Using electroforming to grow metal over sculpted wax, were then enamelled to reflect the original drawing's colours, capturing the magic of the children’s uninhibited imaginations.

Each pendant has either a silver inflation nozzle incorporated into the piece or a detail of a balloon end, suggesting the illusion of fabrication and adding to the context and humour of the pieces.

The creation of this work was generously supported by Arts Nova Scotia.
